Dada’s Chops – Branding Bengali Street Cuisine
Dada’s Chops is a Bengali Quick Service Restaurant introducing the delightness of Bengali Street Cuisine from the heart of Bengal to the streets of Noida. It is the first online delivery and takeout service of bengali street snacks in Noida.
In the region of Northern India and Uttar Pradesh, where chole bhature, samosa kachori and bedmi puri (daal stuffed breads) is an evening snack delight, Dada’s Chops introduced the mouth-watering crumb coated croquettes called Chops & Cutlets in veg and non veg varieties to treat the masses to a new cuisine so dearly celebrated on the Streets of Bengal.
Growing up in Kolkata, West Bengal, this project was a delight to work on. It took me back to my roots in Eastern India with metaphors ranging from the Graphic Design of the master film maker Satyajit Ray (yes, did you know Ray was also adept in print too!) to food illustrations found in historical recipe books of Bengal.
A project like this requires close collaboration with more wonderful creatives. I developed the branding, creative strategy, packaging and content illustrations for both online and offline channels for this entity. I art directed the food photography shoot with Vikas Maurya and Raghav Sahni heading this piece to build the content imagery for the brand. Gargi Bhattacharya & Soumyadip Ghosh helped in content marketing and blogging strategy for the brand and give it the love, growth and communication strategy, a cuisine so deeply embedded in the history of the colonial Bengali culture needed to exude.
